Honey Helps: A Family-Owned Honey Fundraiser

Honey Helps was founded by two dads who had personally experienced the frustrations of traditional school fundraisers. From low-quality products to complicated ordering systems, they saw how fundraising often created more hassle than help. Drawing inspiration from their other business, Northwoods Honey, they came together to create a better fundraising solution—one that families enjoy and organizations can rely on.

Brett has owned and led healthcare facilities as well as staffing and therapy companies. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Southern Illinois University and an MBA from Lewis University.

Outside of work, Brett enjoys hiking, fishing, and riding his Harley with his wife of 27 years, Claudeen. He also treasures time with their twin daughters and Blu, their high-energy cattle dog.

Joe DeCort

A longtime entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience building and leading service-based businesses, Joe brings deep operational expertise, growth strategy, and a strong, community-first mindset to Honey Helps.

Joe has been married to his wife, Karen, for 20 years, and they have two teenage sons who attend a Christian school and are active in sports. As chair of the school board at his sons’ school, Joe has firsthand insight into the challenges schools face—and the importance of strong programs, engaged families, and community support. That perspective shapes his work at Honey Helps, where he leads with relationships, listens closely, and partners with organizations to support the work they are already doing.

Friends since third grade, Brett and Joe bring decades of trust, shared values, and real-world experience to Honey Helps. Together, they work to serve schools, teams, churches, and nonprofits with a honey fundraising solution that is simple, effective, and family-approved.

    1. Kick Off

Once we get you set-up (can take as little as 24 hours!), then you can kick-off your fundraiser with an in-person or virtual event. Introduce your participants to the Honey Help products, explain the fundraising selling and ordering process, and answer any questions so everyone feels confident selling. Be sure to share your fundraising goal and any reward incentives with participants — this helps motivate sellers and encourages participation from

    the very beginning.

    2. Promote & Sell

Participants sell Honey Helps products directly to supporters — no inventory

required. Customers can choose to have their order shipped immediately to them, or if not, products are shipped for free to the school or organization once the fundraiser closes. Sellers can promote their individual Honey Helps link via email, social media, or text, reaching supporters beyond their local

    community.

  • Why choose Honey Helps as a fundraiser?

Participating in a Honey Helps fundraiser creates a win-win for everyone involved. Customers receive an all-natural, delicious sweetener—a wholesome alternative to sugar and other processed products.

At the same time, the fundraiser supports students as they step out of their comfort zones to make a difference. By engaging in sales, students gain valuable interpersonal and communication skills that will serve them well in future careers. Supporting these efforts means contributing not only to a meaningful cause but also to the personal growth and development of our youth.

  • What types of organizations can use Honey Helps fundraising?

Our premium honey is sustainably produced in the picturesque region of west-central Minnesota. Here, Honey Helps’ dedicated families and team members carefully manage approximately 1,500 colonies of honeybees, fostering a harmonious relationship with the environment while prioritizing the health and well-being of our pollinators.

  • How does Honey Helps compare to other fundraising programs?

There are lots of fundraising options — from cookie dough to wrapping paper — and it can feel overwhelming to choose the best fundraiser for your school, sports team, church, or nonprofit. Honey Helps simplifies the choice. Our honey fundraising program is trusted by organizations of all sizes for its simplicity, high profit margin, risk-free setup, and healthy products supporters actually want. Unlike traditional fundraisers, participants can sell to supporters anywhere in the U.S., with products shipped directly to their homes, making it easy to expand your reach and maximize fundraising results.

  • How much does a Honey Helps fundraiser cost?

Our hardworking honeybees begin producing honey in the spring, continuing their efforts through late summer. During the special 'honey flow' period—lasting a few weeks when blooming flowers are at their peak—our bees produce the highest volumes of honey. After harvesting by hand, the honey is carefully transported to our honey house, where it is extracted and bottled with care.

Because our honey is raw and unprocessed, it has an indefinite shelf life. Over time, natural crystallization may occur, but a gentle warm water bath will restore its smooth texture, ensuring you can enjoy its pure and natural goodness.

  • Are there any fees or hidden costs with this fundraiser?

No. Honey Helps fundraisers have no credit card fees, hidden charges, or unexpected expenses. Every fundraiser is simple, transparent, and designed to maximize your organization’s revenue without financial risk.
